With this class students who have less than 6 months of grappling experience are able to progress and learn in a pace set specifically for them. Each class consists of a warm-up, a standing technique, ground skills, and some resistance training.
Designed for the Beginner/Intermediate student but still valuable to and attended by grapplers of all levels, this class provides students with a solid foundation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu theory, strategy, and technique as they apply to self-defense and competition. A fast paced and more in depth look at Jiu-Jitsu as it applies to competing with increasingly skilled opponents in both the standing and ground phases of combat. Heavy focus is placed on flowing movement, drilling transitions and developing an attacking, submission-oriented style of grappling that fits each individual student’s physical and mental attributes. An increased emphasis on extensive live sparring and stand-up grappling allow each individual to challenge themselves progressively as they gain experience. One of the largest female-only Jiu-Jitsu programs in the country, the women who attend come from all walks of life: students, mothers, business women, military ladies, nurses, etc. You don’t have to be young or fit to start! Our ages currently range from 14 to over 40. Whether you are interested in self defense, fitness, or competition, this class adjusts to meet everyone’s needs.
Sometimes it’s hard for students (particularly those with limited schedules) to find time to work on their own specific game because the regular instruction-led classes have a set rotating curriculum intended to expose students to a wide swath of techniques. While this is important for breadth of knowledge, it is also important for you to find time to further hone the techniques you will use in times of pressure. This session is a 45 minute targeted drilling class and has no instruction. Therefore, students are expected to run through only techniques with which they are already relatively comfortable. Students are expected to be warmed up before the start of this session so as not to take away from their partner’s time and reps. Attendees must have at least 6 months of instructor-led Jiu-Jitsu training in order to participate.
A strength and agility class that is valuable for any level of athlete, in-shape or out, Athletic Conditioning is designed to help you achieve your fitness goals and round out your athletic profile as you work towards a stronger, healthier you.
