Ryan Hall Promoted to Black Belt

Thursday, April 1st, 2010 @ 10:34 pm

Fifty/50 head instructor, Ryan Hall, is promoted to black belt by 2-time Black Belt World Champion, Felipe Costa (Brasa).

At the end of another excellent seminar that cleaned up some grey areas for the Fifty/50 competitors before they head out to the CBJJ Pan American Championships next week, Felipe Costa awarded his student, Ryan Hall, his final Jiu-Jitsu belt. Easily the most difficult rank to earn in the martial arts, it is a great honor to be promoted to to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, particularly by a world-renowned competitor and instructor like Felipe.

Ryan gave up college and put the rest of his life on hold to dedicate all of his time and effort to Jiu-Jitsu, travel the world, compete against some of the best grapplers in existence, and accomplish in 6 years (in spite of considerable time off for 5 surgeries) what takes most more than 10. We look forward to seeing Ryan make his mark at the top level of gi competition and we are certain that he will continue to show in the future the same hard work and dedication that has taken him this far.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend (especially Christian Montes of Ronin Athletics NYC–Ryan’s first instructor)!
