Ryan Hall and Felipe Costa Win Superfights at US Grappling

Sunday, June 20th, 2010 @ 3:11 pm

Fifty/50′s head instructor and Brasa Team’s head coach took on tough opponents at US Grappling’s Diamond State Games in Bear, DE. Read on for details.

Felipe Costa faced off against Yamasaki black belt Luis Pantoja in a gi superfight pitting the former Mundial champion against a less known but still tough opponent from the Washington, DC area. Felipe controlled the match from the outset, scoring multiple sweeps and guard passes to take a 12-4 victory.

Ryan Hall had no small task in front of him as he was scheduled to compete with Roberto Godoi black belt and Elite XC MMA Champion, Wilson Reis (BJJ United/Lloyd Irvin). Wilson, a Mundial champion at brown belt and Brasiliero silver medalist at black belt, had narrowly defeated Ryan on points in a professional tournament in December, but Ryan was able to make some adjustments and pull off the submission victory against his extremely tough and skilled adversary.

Huge thanks to Bruno Frazatto and Murilo Santana for training with Ryan for the weeks prior to the match.
