Fifty/50 BJJ Hosts MGInaction’s Henrique Rezende (2012 IBJJF Pan Am Medalist) for a seminar
Ryan Hall made a successful return to international competition and Jen Flannery continued her unbeaten streak in Federation tournaments as both took home gold medals from the first East Coast CBJJ tournament in years.

Ryan and Jen at CBJJ NY Open
Jen Flannery, competing in the blue belt pluma (superfeather) division, controlled both of her opponents while running up the points to go unscored upon while capturing her second international gold medal this year. Jen has been looking sharp and will have the year’s final big test ahead of her at the Mundial in June.
In his second tournament back from injury Ryan Hall picked up another international gold medal, controlling his only opponent from the top to win the brown belt pena (featherweight) division. Easing up on the cheese fries has allowed Ryan to drop to his natural weight in preparation for the ADCC trials and Mundial in May and June respectively.
In the Absolute class, Ryan faced off against Gunnar Nelson (Renzo Gracie), the Pan American middlweight champion. After 6 minutes of a 0-0 match, the contest was halted by the scorers who realized that Ryan and Gunnar were not supposed to face one another in that bracket. A quick rest later, Ryan was back on the mat against Jonathan Tooker, the Ultra Heavyweight champion from Alliance. Tooker pulled half guard and Ryan quickly took his back off of a pass, but Ryan lost position when attempting to transition to mount. After a back-and-forth match, Tooker would take the victory by a score of 9-4. Ryan needs some more work…
Seph Smith competed in the purple belt lightweight division, winning his first match by a score of 8-0 before dropping a close one to Ronis Gracie 4-6.
With the World Championships fast approaching, training is going to be kicking into gear. Make sure you’re at class to help out the Fifty/50 members who will be competing!
