Fifty/50 BJJ Hosts MGInaction’s Henrique Rezende (2012 IBJJF Pan Am Medalist) for a seminar
Purple belt German Salas defeated Pedro Sauer brown belt Josh Aguero (Warrior Gym) via submission in 1 minute and 30 seconds of a grappling superfight at the LOC Fights amateur MMA show in Winchester, VA. Read on for more details.
Competing in his first superfight and cornered by head coaches Ryan Hall and Seph Smith, German Salas quickly put away his higher ranked opponent in front of a large crowd in Winchester.
After shaking hands to start the match, German looked for a 2-on-1 control to attack, but his opponent quickly pulled guard. Aggressively passing and looking for a guillotine, German over-committed slightly, and was swept against the cage. In the top-to-bottom transition, though, German wrapped his opponent’s leg up, moved to the 50/50 position, and immediately attacked the heel hook. Winching in pain, his opponent was forced to submit early on into the match to prevent injury.
Just getting his feet wet in competition as a purple belt, German has shown a good deal of promise as his hard work in the gym has been rewarded with excellent tournament results. After this victory, he’ll close it down for the holidays to rest and heal up in preparation for the beginning of the 2013 season.
Congrats German!
Well done! Take your time, no need to rush the win . – )
