Jen Flannery Wins World Pro Trials in Montreal

Monday, February 11th, 2013 @ 6:32 pm

Jen Flannery continued her successful return to competition after an extended injury layoff, winning her division at the World Pro Trials in Montreal, Quebec. Read on for more details.

Jen continued her successful return to competition in Montreal, defeating her only opponent in the lightest purple-black belt division to take the gold medal. After an initial guard pull, she swept, passed with pressure, took the back, and finished her opponent with a lapel choke to end the match about two minutes in. Hard work is paying off. Congratulations to Jen!

In related news, an old friend and Fifty/50 student made his return to competition, as well. After more than 2 years off, Anthony Cincotta fought tough in the men’s purple belt lightweight division, making it to the semi-final before running into a tough Josh Presley, another friend who ended up taking gold. A well-earned bronze for Anthony in his first one back out.

Great to see Anthony back on the competition mat showing the same grit and pressure he always has and congratulations to Josh on the gold!
