Jen Flannery

The head coach for the Fifty/50 BJJ Women’s Program, Jen began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in August 2005, received her blue belt from Royce Gracie in January 2006, and was promoted to purple belt by Felipe Costa in June 2009. Jen has trained extensively at a number of academies, but when Fifty/50 opened its doors in December 2008, she moved over to train under Ryan full-time and has seen her technical skills and competitive abilities expand exponentially during her time here. As a five-time international medallist (including a Pan American championship gold and 3 medals from the world championship), Jen knows what it takes to train and win at a high level.

Jen Flannery

A dedicated student and passionate, detailed instructor, Jen believes that all women should train BJJ because it is the only martial art that gives them the tools to reliably overcome a larger, stronger attacker. When she’s not teaching, Jen continues to train hard everyday to improve her skills and prepare for local, regional, and international competitions. In addition to her credentials in BJJ, Jen holds a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do and is a professional swim coach.
