BJJ Brown Belt and professional MMA fighter Carlos Vera is the head instructor for our Striking Program, an instructor for the 25/50 Youth Jiu Jitsu program, and the second Fifty/50 team member to earn a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Carlos began his adulthood working in finance for 7 years with a degree in accounting, but soon realized his passion lay elsewhere. Carlos’ background in martial arts began at age 4 when he started Tae Kwon Do at Moon College in New Orleans, Louisiana. After winning several state tournaments in Tae Kwon Do, as well as competing in the Junior Olympics, Carlos branched out at the age of 19 and began studying Capoeira to broaden his experience. As time went on, Carlos began to supplement his striking with Jiu Jitsu, eventually entering the professional ranks of Mixed Martial Arts where he currently holds a 12-3 record. In 2023, Carlos was a competitor on Season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter reality show as a member of Conor McGregor’s team. On the heels of a strong performance on the show, he was offered a contract with the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, the UFC. He continues to work hard everyday to hone his craft and push forward to the highest levels of the fight game.
