Brazilian jiu-jitsu (advanced)
A fast paced and more in depth look at Jiu-Jitsu as it applies to competing with increasingly skilled opponents in both the standing and ground phases of combat. Movements from the Fundamentals programs are woven together in succession and students further develop themselves as martial artists by interacting with the most experienced members of the academy.
Heavy focus is placed on flowing movement, drilling transitions and developing an attacking, submission-oriented style of grappling that fits each individual student’s physical and mental attributes. An increased emphasis on extensive live sparring and stand-up grappling allow each individual to challenge themselves progressively as they gain experience. This class is an absolute must for anyone interested in taking their skills to the next level.

Judo
Translated as “The Gentle Way,” Judo is a dynamic form of jacket wrestling developed by martial arts pioneer Jigoro Kano. As one of the most widely practiced martial arts in the world, Judo emphasizes grip control, powerful throwing techniques, and fluid movement from the standing position. It’s both an elegant art and a highly effective addition to any grappler’s skill set.
Our Judo Fundamentals class is led by David Terao, currently ranked #1 in the U.S. at 60kg by USA Judo. A lifelong martial artist, David began training Judo at the age of 6 in Hawaii, laying the foundation for what would become a standout competitive career across Judo, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This class is designed for beginner to intermediate practitioners, with a focus on building strong fundamentals in a supportive and structured environment. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn.

Students will learn how to move efficiently, defend effectively from the feet, and apply a diverse range of takedowns and throws.
